The project began by questioning theb relationship of geometry and architectural design with exploratory study of historic vault construction.

 

This led to reveal underlying geometries of the historic arched form of vault. By drawing resemblances from vertical projections and planar drawings of vaults to origami crease patterns, the project proposes an alternative design that challenged the heavy characteristic of masonry vault.

 

The project evolved along development informed by structural characteristics of vault and parametric methods to exhibit the potential of being expanded as a lightweight responsive canopy system.
